hi ladies, i just wonder if any one of you ladies has tried Plan B (or morning after pills) before and was it really effective?

i happen to unexpectedly have had unprotected sex with my partner. and then i took Plan B 8 hours later and I wasn't really experiencing any extreme side effect. and then i took the 2nd tablet (for Plan B, there are 2 tablets that you have to correctly take within 72 hours of unprotected sex).

Would anyone please tell me what is the chance and how possible is it of getting pregnant? This is the 1st time that I had unprotected sex. Please anyone could you help me out!! I would greatly and sincerely appreciate your time and advises! Thanks so much!

You should be good its about 99.9% effective,
just remember, next time, USE PROTECTION.

Oh and to the response above, pulling out is NOT an effective birth control, this is a long disproven myth.

They are 89% effective if the first dose is taken within 24 hours of the sex act...becoming slightly less effective until day 4, when it is no longer effective at all. This is because it only prevents the conception and POSSIBLY implantation, it does not kill an embryo already formed or end a pregnancy already begun (therefore it is NOT an abortion pill). It's wonderful that you took Plan B in an effort to prevent pregnancy, but I'm sure you know it is not healthy to do this often, so it would be best to only have protected sex and use regular birth control in the future. Considering how early you took the pill, you are very unlikely to become pregnant, but anything is possible I hope you'll get lucky this time and be more careful next time...a good scare can do that to you! Best of luck!

According to the Plan B website, Plan B can reduce the risk of pregnancy by up to 89% if taken within 72 hours. It can still be effective after 72 hours, but chances of becoming pregnant increase the longer a woman waits to take the medication.

I have personally taken Plan B four different times over the last six years when I forgot to take my regular birth control pills. And, luckily, I don't have any kids yet! :o)

***Also, I just wanted to clarify something. Plan B is NOT an abortion pill like RU-486 (the abortion pill). If a woman is already pregnant Plan B will have NO affect on the baby. It will NOT kill the baby and it will NOT cause any "brain damage" as one of the other answerers posted. Plan B is just a higher dose of regular birth control pills, which are just hormones. It's not harmful at all to a baby! A lot of people are misinformed or uneducated about Plan B and how it works.

Plan B is only 85% effective if taken right AFTER intercourse. The more time that elapses the less effective it is. Also keep in mind that Plan B is NOT birth control It does NOT regulate/prevent ovulation and it does NOT prevent fertilization of an ovum.
It creates a "mini period" whereby the lining of the uterus is expelled from the body (just like a period) and with that an implanted fertilized ovum is also expelled, that is IF the ovum has implanted. If it hasn't done so by the end of the "mini period" you can STILL be pregnant, I suggest that you take a pregnancy test in about 6 weeks just to be sure.

Contrary to what grayhare says, Plan B does NOT prevent conception...conception IS fertilization, and Plan B does NOT prevent fertilization...

Pullindini you are thinking of RU486, which IS the abortion pill, RU486 is NOT Plan B. Plan B is taken directly AFTER unprotected sex, and is available over the counter. RU486 can be taken up to 8 weeks after unprotected sex or 63 days after last period and must have a prescription.

Some consider the "morning after" pill to be abortion.... and if the slim chance that the baby DOES survive, will it have brain damage?

or will it be so strong that a pill or two wont affect it... and someday grow up to cure diseases?

If you are not ready for kids yet, and are too irresponsible to use protection (i mean, c'mon... how hard is it to slip the thing on????) keep your friggin legs closed & find something else to do with your time.

If you do not want kids at all, then do us all a huge favor & get spayed.

Just what we need in this world.... more irresponsible horny toads running around trying to be a parent, relying on their mommy & daddy... and the government to support them because they done "screwed" their life up.... meanwhile, they sit around on their parents couch getting fatter, feeling sorry for themselves as they are regretting the 20 minutes of fun & excitement that they had last year with a guy that they dont even "love" anymore.... and God only knows where HE (the daddy) is now!!!!!

and as far as the 1st reply from the 630 moron... how many kids do YOU have on welfare? pretty desperate when you hafta put your phone number as your profile name!

GET A LIFE! 630, keep it in your pants...
