How many months will the Democrats be in office, in the majority, of both sides of Congress, before they actually DO something?

I've never seen a bigger group of tme and resource wasters!

They sent ONE bill to the President in 6 months, and it was a bill they KNEW would be vetoed! This is ridiculous! Where is the media on this?????

They haven't (yet) sent him ANYTHING! Not ONE bill has reached his desk.

Obstructionist? Bush? Maybe he WILL be obstructionist, but they'd have to pass a bill first, and get it on his desk for that to be true.

So far, they haven't needed any help from Bush to accomplish NOTHING.

EDIT to Bolt: G.W.Bush has only vetoed ONE bill in his ENTIRE Presidency. He is the LEAST obstructionist President of ALL of history, if only his Vetoes are concidered.

EDIT to Ruth: Yes, of course. I'd like to see our troops get funded, no strings attached. But that wasn't the point of my question, of course.

The Dems are so caught up in their own anger, they can't sit down and conduct business. They all need to resign/step aside, or GET TO WORK!

Anything in particular you want them to do? LOL

I would think they would want to pass something, just to restore the faith of their constituents, if nothing else. I guess they over-estimated their "majority" after all, including counting the two independents.

According to the Congressional Record, 16 public bills had been enacted into law as of 31 March, and that doesn't include the one to which you referred.

More than 2900 bills have been introduced in the two houses of Congress, and 356 have been passed.

Much time has also been taken up in the Senate by nominations of the Executive Branch of persons to fill positions in the Executive Branch and the Judiciary, and in both houses by oversight of the Executive and Judicial Branches, a function all the more overwhelming because the REPUBLICAN-led Congress of the past 6 YEARS utterly failed to carry out its responsibility to oversee the REPUBLICAN administration and the courts.

Much more might have been accomplished if the REPUBLICANS had not taken every possible step to obstruct, defer or delay even consideration of many measures, let alone passage.

Recommendation: Engage brain before operating mouth.

Furthermore, what do you need the media for? Can't you write a letter to your Congressman and Senators yourself, urging them to work harder? Would that be the same media that parroted every fabrication Bush, Cheney, and their cohorts concocted to justify their imperialistic invasion of a sovereign nation that posed NO threat to the United States and had nothing whatsoever to do with the attacks on our country or with Al Qaeda?

The Dems could pass legislation that they knew would be overwhelmingly supported by the people, then dare Bush to veto it and risk the public backlash and Repub defections from his own party in Congress. Why don't they? They can talk the talk, but can't walk the walk. Gonzales is a higher priority, I guess.

You said it. It's because Bush is being an obstructionists and vetoing or threatening to veto Democratic bills left and right.

the house has passed tons...

they don't have the supermajority in the senate though, which you need to pass bills... so that's been a little tougher...

I'm pretty sure they've passed more than one though, but when house and senate pass a bill, it's often two different versions and they have to hammer out the middle ground to present it to the president...

it's really no slower than it usually is, but you wouldn't know, since you don't pay attention... clearly

It used to be that not passing any legislation was a good thing.

After 6 years of run away spending the ConJobs are so used to spending our money they are miffed at the Dems fiscal conservancy.

Good question!!

You know just because I think for myself people assume that I am a libral and Democrat. I'm not. I'm independant.

I think the two party system sucks!

This question proves the two party system sucks.

It all sucks, the Bush Administration sucks, the Democrats suck! Everybody sucks!

It's time for a change.
