In 100 years, it is hard to know for sure, but I think that we are at a crossroads, now! I think we are getting extremely close to the point of no return, and we are running out of time. It is either wake up, or annihilate our species. How much time do we have left? I don't know. It could be more than 100 years or it could be less. We need BOTH a spiritual (NOT RELIGIOUS BUT SPIRITUAL, AND THERE IS A TREMENDOUS DIFFERENCE) awakening, and a political awakening! We need kindness, and compassion, and generosity, and a sense of oneness and unity with each other, and sharing. We need an end to greed and selfishness, etc. I am not just talking about on an individual basis, because there is only so much individuals can do. I am talking about a serious shifting of attitude of humanity as a whole! *sm*

Probably divided into three or more nations, none of which will be a world power, one or more will be at the level of today's third world nations. But world civilization as a whole will probably be in a new dark age with human progress and human rights at a standstill, and there will be no world power that will be available, or willing, to help any nation.
Presently, there is so much divisiveness in the US that politicians, people in general, refuse to agree on anything. Each group of people want only what's best for "their kind", and large groups of people coming into the country that have no desire to be "American".

Why can't we make anything anymore? Do you mean because manufacturing in the US has become so burdened with environmental regulations that companies do not wish to make anything here anymore?
Because I see Liberals bashing the global economy and out-sourcing, and I wonder if they know why it is happening.
The only thing I can say for sure about 100 years from now is that I won't be here.

If the US exists at all in 100 years, it will be in the throes of death as a world power--we are already slipping, fast and far. We are like the Roman Empire, and will be overcome by a civilization that we don't consider as advanced as our own. (But it is much more so in many ways) China will be our downfall!

The corporations in the US are outsourcing because "rich" isn't enough for them any more; now they want to be "filthy rich". As we become more hateful and hated, as we become less and less conciliatory, as we become less and less moral, as we continue being hypocrites, as we continue to "try to take over the world" (as Pinky and the Bush,,,er,,ah Brain....would say), we will become less and less of a nation.
We used to stand for human rights--now we deal with one of the worst countries when it comes to rights: China. We used to uphold the Constitution--now our "leader" calls it a "g-d piece of paper." (...and he calls himself a Christian???). We used to cherish our rights--now we look the other way as they are stripped from us.
We are on our way to oblivion!
