I'd suggest trying something else. I had the Mirena inserted three months ago and am having it remove next week. If you are having side effects with the pill you will probably have the same thing with an IUD. A Mirena IUD has a progesterone hormone, that despite what the manufacturer says, does get into the blood stream and can cause the same side effects you are now experiencing. I bled for a month after insertion. Then went a month and bled for two weeks on my next cycle. I have had tender breasts and am now experiencing lower abdominal pain as well. Depression, weight gain, nausea, and dizziness are some of the other side effects I have heard of from researching what my gyno didn't tell me. Try a barrier method or a lower dose hormone.

Hello. I have Mirena. And it is absolutely the best. I received it 8 weeks after giving birth so I didn't have to have my cervixs dialated. (If you recently haven't given birth that is what will happen, I hear it is the only painful part of the whole process) The procedure was VERY VERY quick, only lasting about two and a half minutes!! I was on Depo for 4 years but removed myself so I could get pregnant. When I was on depo I had horrible weight gain and emotional problems. So after my daughter was born I decided to go with something different. My periods started out some what irregular but over the course of about 3 months they became shorter and shorter and now after a year and a half I no longer have a period(same effect as Depo). Which is problably the best thing ever :) After it was first inserted I had a little bit of a headache for the first two days but that went away very quickly. Other than that I have had nothing but I wonderful experience and would reccomend it to ANYONE!!!

I have an IUD..since Aug. 2005. At first it was ok, then i started getting really sharp pains thru my abdomen, NOW I am going thru severe pain in my left lower abdomen which my doctor that i seen TODAY says could be an infection caused by the IUD. I honestly DON'T recommend it....try the NuvaRing. In a week I will be possibly having my IUD removed and have asked to use the NuvaRing.

I even have not had babies, however the IUD insertion replaced into no longer as undesirable as I predicted. I purely had it inserted the day earlier on the instant afternoon. of direction, my cervix replaced into softened with Cytotec simply by fact the 1st time we tried to insert the IUD my cervix does not open. there replaced into gentle cramping whilst she stabilized my uterus. somewhat greater cramping whilst she measured. so plenty greater cramping whilst the IUD rather went in. yet that did no longer final very long. I had some cramping for some hours straight away, then it eased up appreciably and replaced into in maximum cases long previous via final nighttime. i'm nevertheless having reasonable cramps each now and then yet i'm taking Ibuprofen for them.

Don't do it! IUD'S are gross. I had one and I got the worst pelvic infection ever and so did a friend of mine.I suggest the cervical cap instead.

LOVE IT
I got pregnant on the pill and I don't have to worry for one second now.
Also, sex is much better when you aren't taking the pill. I wish I had done it years ago.
