The FACT UK website does seem to imply it's only an offense if you copy it for profit or cause the copyright holder any loss, so personal use may be a grey area However I'm sure that the companies concerned would argue that by copying a rental version of a DVD you are causing the distributor a loss by gaining a copy of the film for the rental price and not the retail price. Basically if they find out your doing it they'll prosecute

Because we don't want to see your account deleted, that's why we keep telling you to be good.

You clearly did not read the terms of service you agreed to when you joined Yahoo!. I'll quote it for you...

You agree not to...

upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights ("Rights") of any party...

You agree that Yahoo! may, under certain circumstances and without prior notice, immediately terminate your Yahoo! account, any associated email address, and access to the Service. Cause for such termination shall include, but not be limited to, (a) breaches or violations of the TOS or other incorporated agreements or guidelines ... (g) engagement by you in fraudulent or illegal activities

You also violated community guidelines 4 of Y!Answers community:

Thou shall not...

4. Solicit others for any purpose.

And you just solicited methods for breaking laws.

I believe I've said enough. Go ahead and thumbs down if you wish. It's the truth.

What you're asking is can we tell you how to illegally copy videos you don't own. If you like the movie that much, buy it. Stop trying to scam the system.

Please don't ask Questions on how to Pirate or hack etc, here.

It's in Violation of the TOS and you can lose your account for that, if somebody reports you.

My advise is that you delete this Question, right away.

Cheers!

certain DVD's have locks on them so you can't burn them. this is a precaution to elminate pirate copies.
