Munchkinland home of munchkins
Wizard , wasn't really a Wizard actually man behind a curtain.
The Shoes were Ruby Red with sparkles on them
................The Group.......................
Dorothy-Toto
Tin Man
Lion
Scarecrow
You might include Glenda
the good witch.
There was a curse placed on the wicked witch of the west that is why her death could only come with water.
The witch and her soldiers corner the group on a parapet, where the witch sets the Scarecrow on fire. To douse the flames, Dorothy throws water on them, and accidentally splashes water on the horrified witch, causing her to melt. To the group's surprise, the soldiers are delighted. They give Dorothy the broomstick to thank her for their liberation from the witch.

the Witch placed a bar of iron that was invisible to the human eye in the middle of the kitchen floor so that Dorothy would trip and fall with the hope that her silver shoes would come off.
The wicked Witch’s plan did't work completely. Dorothy only lost one shoe.)
Dorothy became very angry and demanded the Witch return the other silver shoe. The Witch’s refusal made Dorothy so angry that she threw a bucket water on the Witch, at which point the wicked Witch melted and died
There is no explanation for this.

so, the shoes weren't silver, they were ruby red slippers, weren't they?
i'm not sure what you want with the first couple - definitions maybe?
i'm not entirely sure water is the ONLY thing that can kill the wicked witch of the west. after all, a house fell on her sister and that seemed to do the trick. who's to say a house wouldn't kill her, as well.

Because dorothy is pure and innocent and the Witch is corrupt and evil, water is representative of purity.
I like the intelligent version better, where Elphaba is the best little girls' role model I've come across, ever.

Go rent the movie and watch it.
It was the first color movie and was released 1937.
For the time it was a real feat of stage production.
It is worth watching.
