I wear everything that I can, get full leathers, the best helmet, the best boots and the best gloves.

If you don't ride with all of the stuff that you can get, then my friend YOU are a fool. I've seen lots of crashes and blue jeans offer almost no protection. A leather jacket is not nearly enough.

It is only a matter of time until you leave half of your skin on a patch of asphalt. Skin injuries are more painful than broken bones. Skin has more nerve endings!

Have you ever watched a professional motorcycle race? How many guys do you see racing in blue jeans and a tee shirt? They crash and then they get up an walk away with all of their skin intact.

I have crashed on race tracks both motocross and road racing and I have never lost a patch of my skin. I have kissed my custom leathers after everytime that I have gone down.

Just think, "wish you had leathers on" or "happy you had leathers on".

My friends it is only a matter of time 4 you....!

You never bought none? Sounds like you done did musta hit yer head that one time there before you getted a helmet!

Helmets don't keep you from breaking bones or removing skin. Gloves won't protect you from tearing your foot off. Boots won't keep your shoulder from dislocating, and a jacket won't prevent yards of skin grafts on your legs.

You need to wear ALL THE GEAR ALL THE TIME.

True story: a coworker has a friend that recently crashed. This friend always wore his helmet, "except for this one time" because it was only a short trip.

He is in the hospital right now, missing three days of his memory, and barely survived. He has no idea what happened or how he crashed, and doesn't even remember getting on the motorcycle.

He will probably be f*cked up for the rest of his life, lose coordination, suffer blackouts, memory loss, mood swings, and strokes, ALL FROM ONE "INNOCENT" RIDE.

He will never ride again.

Get a leather jacket, some good riding boots, and at the very leat some kevlar reinforced pants (if not leather or mesh textile).

I totaled my bike a year and a half ago. I was wearing full gear. I was able to walk (OK, limp) away from the crash, was back to work the next day, and suffered no permanent injury. Just a week or so of soreness and I was back to normal.

You will crash, I promise. Whether you end up like me or the other guy is your choice.

Cover everything I can. gloves, full face, always a jacket, choice of three, day, a red perf. Night a silver reflective one , and an armored one for cold weather. the perfs are armored too. I like the HJC fully padded. Boots up to calf, and others would be upset if I didn't wear the jeans. Don't want my a** to get all wet from sweating. Besides the bugs and dirt don't stick and no debris hits my skin. The obvious safety issues abound.
Feels dif if idon't wear that stuff. Anyway, hi speed (140-170) is really difficult with all those clothes whipping the bod.
Eyes water. Would u ride without eye protection?

I always wear a helmet, gloves, boots and jacket. I wear leather pants if we're doing lots of interstate highway riding. I have this severe allergy to asphalt. I break out in big bloody looking scrapes when ever I come in contact with it. (It really sucks). All the protective gear is to keep my allergic reaction to a minimum

Yes get gear...a leather jacket has more purpose than warmth or looks, it is protection from Road Rash if you go down (and if you ride sooner or later you will fall off the bike....no matter how good you are). In cold weather chaps are also a good addition. You can find such items at reasonable prices on ebay.

I dress according to the weather. I wear more at 8 below than I do at 80. Riding gear? Eveything I own gets worn everywhere except the helmet.

Well, I am not too sure, if you are asking aobut when I ride my street bike or my dirtbike, but actually, I don't ride the streetbike, so anyway. The helmet is all I make sure I wear when I ride my dirtbike. Sometimes I wear gloves. I will get some boots and riding pants by the end of the summer. My breasts are too big, so I hate a wearing flak jacket over them. =) I always wear long sleeves though, because I do like to crash from time to time - hurts a little less. have fun : )!!

yes, i ride my bike while wearing my gear.
i prefer to wear a helmit because its more comfortable for me, my eyes water w/o one, i also will not get on my bike w/o my leather gloves, as i figure even if you trip while while getting off your bike your hands are the first thing you put out to catch yourself with. i have two motorcycle specific leather jackets, both with protective padding in the elbows/shoulders and back. i wear them because i feel safer when wearing them. min of jeans and durable shoes for hte rest althou i prefer to wear my boots and at least my textile pants (abrazion resistant material)

i have had a few close calls with cars almost takeing me out (bike and gear are black/silver... no eye popping colors like bright red)
and people have a tendency to not pay attention to motorcyclists, i have also seen my share of "oopses", where friends have ended up in the hospital or were laid-up with road rash.
