I am a 401k (Employer Savings Plan) specialist with a brokerage firm so obviously the majority of my new business comes from people who have very recently left their job or has retired. What can I do or where can I go to get an early heads up on who these people are?

Same way that any new account exec gets their leads. Cold calling!

But if you're a 401(k) specialist, how to you figure that the majority of your business comes from job-leavers and retirees?? You must REALLY be a newbie!

You might contact HR in one or two large companies in your area and arrange to be notified.
