Taba is right. It also allowed images as well as video. It has/had a license thru BMI for streaming media. Basically a social network, with 100k members, geared toward music. - The members are the ones who ephasized the music, and that's what made pixpix so great. You had the ability to add a tag/link to a mp3, image, video, and use it on your own pixpix profile, similar to MySpace. The other members did as well. This generated a library which the other members could use.

Unfortunately the latest royalty fee hike imposed by the CRB(Copyright Royalty Board) : increases by 300 to 1200
percent for streaming media, with retroactive fees for 2006 too. This forced PixPix to close down on Friday, 27th of April.
Maybe it will be back if the new legislation ,(“Internet Radio Equality Act ", H.R. 2060"), is passed by Congress.
