Victory in Iraq means the Iraqi must unite under this new Iraq government formed under George Bush's plan. Is this possible or was this really a mistake. You guys never answer this. Will the Iraqi really unite as a people and we can declare victory.

I am a Conservative, but I don't think diplomacy will be permanent in Iraq. When the United States withdraws its troops, I am guessing that the region will fall into a blood-drenched civil war. I am also confident in thinking that the civil war will end with another dictator in control.

I support our troops, but there are some things about Bush that I don't agree with. The war was a good effort, and it would be nice if democracy could remain in Iraq. But there are some dreams that just remain dreams. Not all of them become reality...

I am currently a Republican. But this is only for a short while longer. Once I am done with school, I am going to change to Independent. I am tired of Republicans and Democrats flinging dirt at each other. Internal government instability is a bad sign of things to come. As long as we keep fighting amongst ourselves, things are only going to get worse.

Good question. I myself am a liberal so I can't answer for the Conservatives, but I am interested to hear what they have to say...but personally I don't think WE can win Iraq. I think we need to pull out completely and help put an International Peace Keeping force in place and try to help rebuild Iraq. Maybe then we could get back the support of the Iraqi's when they believed we were liberators not occupiers.
Peace

I would really like to know how J. feels this is simple...he never really gave any plan on winning...sounds like more of the "stay the course" attitude that is killing our boys (and girls) everyday.

We already obtained victory. Every major cause that we invaded Iraq to accomplish HAS been accomplished.

We never went to build a nation. They had a working nation, and government. Only liberals ever try to say we went, in any major part, to build a nation.

We can withdraw any time. But, if we do, many thousands of civilians will die. We are there now as peacekeepers. How long do we have to stay? Until they can police themselves. Years, maybe.

Iraqis are not "one people". This country needed a dictator to stay in one piece before the war. What makes anyone think Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds are going to solve their problems democratically? US intelligence is retarded and ignorant. Whether we leave tomorrow or in 20 years, there will be civil war, mass exodus of Sunni, and partition.

Strangely enough, I don't think that many people buy what you define as "victory in Iraq". I can't think of one other person who would define victory in this way, so I have to think that you're asking for the impossible.

America has the separation of church and state the muslim countries don't. It's Church first and foremost. They want only their sect in control.
They sure as all outdoors don't want someone who isn't muslim what's the best for them.

They will fight us until they are all dead. We have inflicted so much grief and destruction on them that they will hate us for many many generations to come. Thank you Mr. War Monger, I mean Bush.
