What, in your opinion, was the greatest epic movie ever made OTHER than Gone With the Wind?
For me, it was The Far Pavilions. Awesome, awesome movie. Ben Cross and Amy Irving starred in it. It was based upon the book by MM Kaye. Just outstanding.
I found Gone With the Wind to be mind-numbingly BORING.

Lord of the rings reigns supreme here. Titanic is my second favorite.
I found gone with the wind boring and the far pavillion was too long for me to endure.

You need to see the direector's cuts of LOTR for the full grandeur.
Since you haven't (and I would have chosen those), then I go with Lawrence of Arabia and Intolerance.
Now, Intolerance goes on far too long, but for its time, it is stunning
