Yes, we just hired a service this past week to power wash our wood deck and then apply a stain/protective sealant. It looks great now. The power washing gets rid of leaves and other debris, evens out the over-all color of the deck (such as where flower pots had previously been sitting), and provides a good base for the new coat of stain and varnish to adhere.
Note: The fellow power washed it one day and returned two days later--once thoroughly dry--to apply the finish using rollers, brushes, and brushes on extended handles. Two coats were applied to all the horizonal surfaces that would get the most UV rays.

Yes, and the best finish to preserve is after it completely dryed from pressure wash is apply with brush STP Transmission fluid or any other brand ($1. at Dollar General) for a long preserving beautiful finish.
You will not believe how great it is....
