9 x 4/2 = 18
18 x 5/2 = 45
45 x 6/2 = 135

the next number is 135

6+3=9
9+9=18
18+27=45

if you notice the second number in each equation is multiplied by 3 as you go down, therefore...

45+81=123

6 1.0 =6
6 *1.5= 9
9 * 2.0 = 18
18 * 2.5 = 45
45 * 3 = 135

Reading all the answers it looks like there ARE two solutions..at least I agree with two of them.


126 or 135. You need one more in the sequence to determine what the author intended.

Take both solutions to your teacher and see what he/she says.

3 x (6 - 3) = 9

3 x (9 - 3) = 18

3 x (18 - 3) = 45

3 x (45 - 3) = 126
