People go to church because they want forgiveness for their sins. They know they do not live the life God want's them to. They think that if they go to Church on a Sunday, they can live in sin the rest of the week. Not all people feel this way, but there lots who do. They aren't fooling God. He knows which ones are truely belivers and which ones are hippocrates.

It shows God you believe, you care, you are trying-even though we may sin again-we should not-but we do. It surrounds you with people who are also trying, and not just accepting sin and evil in the world.
Like, oh Porn so what, everyone watches it, and the same with drugs and sex, and so on, but going to Church keeps us in the good element, and thinking about doing better rather than just being in darkness and doing bad things, saying bad things and accepting them as part of your daily life. Where would it end?? If we did not control these things, our lives would spiral downwards, and the whole family would degenerate. You have to try and be better-thats what God helps you do and the Church is where you can develop your relationship with Him among other believers.

I think people go to church or other religious institutions because we have a need to be with people who believe in a way similar to ourselves. Sometimes we all need reassurance that we're not the only ones trying to do good in this world. I don't think that churches or synagogues or mosques ever claim to house people who are sinless; I think they simply house people who are trying the best they can, and ultimately, I think that is what God asks of all of us - to do the best we can with what we have big given, great or small.

all men has fallen into sin, and no body is an exception...
sin has made everybody imperfect, so are they who go to church. although they have believe in Christ and saved by Him, they are still live in this corrupttin earth.
gladly, there are mercies from God. eventhough He know what everybody does, and what they do is against His will, He doesnt push them, because they are not his robot...

There are so many different reasons for people going to church that it would take a very large volume to write it all.
The original idea was to meet with God and worship Him!

Thank you for the question. Many assume they know the reason for this and assume wrongly.
They go there to get strength to try to transform their lives to be more like Christ.
It is a long process and they often take 2 steps forward and one step back.
The main point is that they are trying and they have made a start.

They go for social interaction, to be with people with whom they feel safe; and to share common religious beliefs about their concerns that are not addressed by their daily life.
I have no problem with them about that.
They usually end up establishing charities that do more for the needy than our inefficient secular government does, so I'll give them a break.

Fred Allen said, "Most church-goers sow wild oats 6 days a week, then go to church on Sunday to pray for a crop failure."
I agree.

We're imperfect. Hopefully, we will learn better ways to think and act, and be uplifted by others' words.
Also, we have opportunities to lift others, too.
Those are some of the reasons I go.
