My daughter is getting baptised in May and they want us to tell them the meaning of her name and why we chose it. We named her Lilyana. There are many different ways of spelling her name but we chose this way because it's sweet and simple. If anyone know the meaning of Lily I would appreciate your answers. thanks!

I know that lily is a flower. We have a picture of the calalily and that's where our thoughts stemmed from. We love her name, alot of people love her name. I never thought of the 'meaning' of her name but now it would be great to know so that I can tell her one day what it means. Thanks.

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but please dont take offense to this.. My daughter is named Lily also, and when I was looking up names for my second baby I came across the meaning of Lily in a baby name book, and basically is said Lily is a abbreviation of Lillanna which meant evil or mean spirited or something.. But obviously there are several meanings to the name, and in our cases it symbolises our beautiful baby girls, so dont take too much notice to the origin of names..
