I'm not positive, but they usually need to pull it so they can get the DNA that is on the root or hair follicle.
Not sure if there are any new or different tests where that isnt necessary.

genuinely, weed can ensue on your hair up until eventually 3 months. at the same time as did you 1st hit upon you had a follicle attempt? in case you knew about this attempt formerly you smoked, they why did you smoke? do not problem shaving your head because they are going to easily take a pattern another position, leg listen, armpit listen. which will also advance a pink flag on you... in case you shave all of your body's hair off then they could do a spinal tap, which will defiantly educate any drug use.

They pull a little bit out for follicle tests, and they cut a little bit out for things like drug tests.

They pluck a small segment with tweezers, yanking quick with a firm turn so that the follicle clings. Cutting it wouldn't get what they need.

I dont think they would pull it out. It wouldn't hurt, but cutting it sounds more sophisticated.
Wait they probably DO pull a strand out so they can have a more recent and accurate result.
