Not only spiders, but lots of insects! Have you ever woken up with your mouth open? Don't let this bother you. The average person consumes roughly 10-15 spiders in their sleep througout their lifetime. You've probably eaten more insects and spiders than you've realized. Actually, the FDA permits a certain number of insects and rat parts into your food, because it's inevitable that they're going to get in there.

No. You exhale stronger than you inhale so you would blow a tiny spider from you. Where this tale came from perplexes me. You don't worry about swallowing mosquitoes and flies, so why worry about spiders?

That's just something someone made up to scare children like the bogey man and Richard Nixon. I mean maybe if you fell asleep in a dirty old basement crawling with spiders, i guess one of those little buggers could crawl into your mouth....ewww.....

Yes, the spider crawls up onto you face and into you mouth. Then you swallow it.
