Renounce life.
It might sound absurd but as long as u wanna possess wordly things , u can never attain satisfaction and without attaining satisfaction no one can get a pasceful death.

The thing is "If u lead a very happy or adventurous life it is that much difficult fur u to renounce it.

If u go on a holiday, the children would never want to return home and they cry and make a scene as though they should extend the holiday, though they know that the parents are never gonna agree.
On the other hand, the parents know their limitations and hence don't try to extend their holiday. It is a fact that they too feel sad to return home.
At the end of the holiday, the ones who are happy are those who are great philosophers who have a clear idea what awaits them after the holiday
or
the ones who never enjoyed the holiday.

Meataphorically, read the passage above."holiday" compared to "life"

At the end of life, a happy man is one who knows what is gonna happen after death and is brave enough to face it

or a person who is completyely unhappy with life.

Achieving happiness, being happy or remaining so has nothing to do with accomplishing anything or having anything! It comes from within and simply needs to be allowed.

For me, I'm happy and can die at any moment and I'm fine with that. Until I do again I'll always be happy because I know the difference and how it works!

I'm not certain however if the way its works for me is the same for anyone else? I believe that this topic/formula works basically the same for all human beings though. Good luck.

Now make up your mind, happy or in peace?
One time when I thought I was dying alone lying on a wooden bench and looking up at a bare lightbulb, I thought, " This is sure an odd place to die!" And I laughed. So, I would say that to die happy one could sure use a good sense of humor.

To die in peace, now is a different story. I have never verified that one, or at least that I can remember offhand. I guess if someone was nagging at me on my deathbed, and then she left the room, and I then died, I would feel that I was having a peaceful death.

I don't think that any accomplishment achieved would ever make me be able to die happy/ peace. I think that I would need to be a little odd to say that.

The day you say to yourself " I have had a great life and like who i have become as a person" you will know you have reached the point that accomplishments in life really don't count, its who you are as a person and liking oneself and liked and respected by others because they admire the way one handles life and people. .Accomplishments are not needed if one is happy with oneself.
Then die happy.
Once accomplishments are achieved it will still leave a person unhappy and empty until one learns that happiness is within. Peace comes with acceptance and liking who you are as a person and not depending on outside forces or things to make you happy or fill in that empty void

Peace and happiness are different.

Your question though poses the difficulty that one would avoid happiness so as not to die.

Contentment, peace or happiness is something that can be experienced on a daily basis.

I want to live my life meaningful to the max before I die. I somehow feel that I have a task to do in my life which is helping people. So I would try to help people in all kinds of ways. That would be nice. Its hard but satisfying.
