It was alright, Gravel and Kucinich added some interesting, passionate moments, but it didn't really tell us anything new about Obama, Clinton or Edwards. I think it only helped the relatively unknowns such as Dodd, Biden etc.

Hillary Clinton won the debate. I thought she was brilliant, as usual. Great answer on what she'd do if we were attacked in two of our cities by terrorists. She struck right back at the Republicans who plague her and she did a really good job of it. She was forthright and direct and there wasn't a misstep that I could see.

Obama looked and sounded nervous and seemed unsure of himself in the beginning when he was answering questions about Iraq. But he recovered nicely and he did well, though he comes in second I think.

Edwards, geez I just don't know, I just can't put my finger on it. Something about him does not inspire confidence in me, though he seems to say all the right things. He seems a little too slick to me, even when he's trying deliberately to be genuine.

Richardson seemed overwrought and too impatient. I don't think those are qualities I want to see in a President.

Biden was pretty good, he's a good man, I like him. He'd make a great VP.

Dodd was all right, but forgettable.

Kucinich is a nutjob in my opinion. I hate to use a third grade phrase here but he gives me the creeps, seriously don't like that guy.

Gravel gave the night some badly needed lightness. I know he was serious and he was mad but didn't you just HAVE to smile? He's a trip.

This is the first of many debates but no, I don't think it's too early. They've all been milling around out there, gathering contributions and filling the news, so I think it was time for a debate.

I was surprised that Hillary Clinton handled it so well, And I was also positively impressed by Biden. They both did not really diverge from the questions asked and handled them well. Obama and Edwards were disappointing, I'm sorry to say, since I had a positive impression of Obama beforehand. Probably he's just young and inexperienced, but that is not what we need right now. He'll grow into it over the next 10-20 years, I hope. I liked Richardson to begin with, but I didn't like his answer about Gonzales much. Richardson is experienced, especially in the realm of foreign policy, and would make a fine vice president. Dodds was not particularly impressive. Both Kucinich and Gravel came off as radical fringe.
This debate was tough on everyone, because there were so many questions and candidates and so little time. In defense of Edwards, who I never particularly cared for (and still don't much), he got the raw deal with his questions about his hair and hedge funds.
Kudos to Hillary. She even changed my husband's mind, and he's very old fashioned and did not like her at all previously.

i think the biggest winner tonight had to be biden, coming in as the third string guy he really put forth a good showing and i am willing to bet the poll numbers will reflect that. hillary did a great job, no surprise there. I was a bit dissapointed in barack, he seemed a little shaky at times. edwards came across as very even handed and compassionate and impressed me a bit. Gravel came across as a looney, kucinich as too much of a fringe guy, and richardson didn't really show he had what it takes. Thats my take on it, other results may vary.

I supply those applicants an rather low score. perhaps a 25. they might desire to adhere to the matters dealing with our usa instead of belittling one yet another. Our usa, as a results of fact of George and Dick, is in very undesirable shape. we choose a actual chief to dig us out of this mess and neither Obama or Clinton seem to have the ans. for our perilous situation. Edwards in with the aid of far the perfect candidate. Mary Ann Hitchcock.

The Democratic debate was boring. Questions on race and gender should have been raised to make the debate interesting.

VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know who will likely win.

Overall, I felt the candidates did a fine job of expressing their positions given the time frame.

I'm also glad that they acted as adults and kept their focus on important issues rather than attacks against each other. That was a major plus.

Senator Obama impressed me a great deal with the way he conducted his responses.
