This summer I've decided to really buckle down. I need to start saving for college and my folks are making me pay for driver's ed. The problem is I can't find a job that hires 14-year-olds and takes them seriously. Does anyone have any ideas?
I'd really appreciate it. :-)

Out in the public workforce, most employees require you to be at least 16 to be hired. However I commend you for wanting to earn your way! I would check out any local papers for babysitting jobs - a lot of people need babysitters during the summer while their kids are out of school. Also, check at your church to work in the nursery. When you are ready to do driver's ed, check this out:

It is a lot less expensive than driving schools!

Cutting lawns, baby sitting and Lemonade stands are all good ideas but here's one that might interest you. Check out all the local family own and operated restaurants and see if they're looking for a bus-person to clean tables. This job usually pays cash under the table and you also get tips from the customers as well. I did it before I turned 16.

Good Luck

you can always do the old standbys, babysitting, lawn mowing, or a paper route. Other than that try to find somefamily that owns a business, they'll usually pay you to do some filing or organizing, or just findan independent business owner who's willing to pay under the table and give you a chance

Yes, you can actually take a CPR/First Aid course which is specifically for teens who want to provide childcare. You can make excellent summer money, with lots of kids at home and parents still needing to go to work!!! Contact your local Red Cross Training Center and good luck!

Until you it 16 , most places won't hire so
Make up a flyer with everything you are willing to do
Like yard work , cleaning , kid sitting , pet walking ,
Whatever . . . and pass it out to all your neighbors ,
( Since you want to be able to get there easy )
Put your rate and phone number on there too !
