LeBron James is the best player on the planet today. Hecan do it all. Shoot threes, pass, rebound, block shots and steal.
He can take over a game driving to the basket and/or defensively. Of all the all-around players out there, he is the biggest and youngest and will only get better, and start to dominate the NBA in a couple of seasons from now.

Hmmm.... Let's see, for me it depends on the position.
Currently in the NBA~ Kobe is amazing! That kid can light up any highlight reel, I'm not a Laker fan, but he is really fun to watch and he is a great person to take the last shot of the game.
Power Forwards~ Tim Duncan, that guy is amazing and does it with out a lot of flash. His low post game is the best in the business. I just wish he would quit making all of us Spurs fans bite our nails and cover our eyes every time he goes to the line.
As for college guys~ Kevin Durant and Greg Oden will be stars int he NBA. Durant has a great all around game and Oden is a monster on the inside. I think they will go 1,2 in the draft and will have an immediate impact on the league.

bill russell was a winner in grade school, high school, college and the nba....maybe its because he belongs to the era long time past but these people who think of others as the greatest never bother to look up russell's winning accomplishments.... ..and remember michael jordan did not win his first title until he was six years in the league and bird, magic and kareem were fading or away from the battles....11 rings in 13 nba campaigns says it all and he even played in 12 finals and most experts agree that the celtics would've won 10 championships in a row had russell not been hurt in his sophomore season..... and remember this too he achieved this feat during the era of the great wilt chamberlain who played him so many times and became good friends and joked to his mother when he would have russell over for thanksgiving that did she have to feed bill so well? :)....no player ever has ever achieved 12 finals in 13 seasons and to say no one will ever again is a safe bet....being great should never be about personal records, flashy plays, or scoring many points...it should be about winning and there is no bigger winner than the great Bill Russell

The best single handed player in the world is either Kobe or Dwayne. They are bothe unstoppable. But with a team, i think that Wade is better. He has so much confidence in his game. And he is patient with with his offence but once he decides hes gonna score he does it with reckless abandonment, willing to do anything to score. Kobe, on the other hand, tends to get impatient with his offense and shoot recklessly. But he score reguardless from anywhere: in the paint, outside, 3 point line, way outside the 3 point line. Dwayne doesnt have a good 3ball, but anywhere inside the line is money. Especially in the 4th quarter. Wade is the best slasher the world. He can split defenses at any given moment on the court.

It will be Michael Jordan. He has deadliest crossover i have ever seen. And look at those fade-aways he did during his prime. And he average 20 ppg during his return with the Wizards. He is 40 plus then but he still scored that many.

there's a problem w/ ur question. basketball is a different game in other countries, with seriously different rules. streetball is also a totally different thing than the nba. also, there are players who are great at different things...defense, passing, shooting, rebounding, helping your team win, presence etc. it depends on what you mean by best..if you mean all around i would say probably timmy duncan or kobe bryant.

Of current players, Steve Nash well rounded, continues to get better, and fun to watch. He's also the only active player to garner 2 MVP titles.
