Well, as someone else mentioned, unfortunately the real estate market is down at the moment. However, there are always people looking to buy. If you want to sell quickly you may have to take a little bit lower price for your home. I think someone else also mentioned cleaning up your home. That's also a good idea. If your home is nicely kept and clean it will help sell it faster. Presentation says alot. I guess your husband took a job with a company that didn't offer to help you sell your home. You might try weichert.com to list your home with. They have a really good program, your home gets listed on about 50 different websites, tell your agent you want open houses every weekend until it sells.

What are you asking for the home?
What big city is it near?
What business are you talking about?
How much equity do you have?

Unfortunately, Real Estate sales is down. It has switch all acrosss the US and it is now a buyers market which means your home can sit on the market a long time. Who is looking for a home is Maine? Is there jobs close by?
Do you have photos? Are buyers looking around that area?
The Reals Estate Market is not good and will be very slow about two years. The only people buying homes now are those that need to live in a certain area. Second Homes, Vacation Homes, and Investment homes are down, no one is buying right now.
I am an investor and in Real Estate on the West Coast. I do by properties if the price is good, location is good, and the market is not totally dead. I know little about the Market in Maine.
Is this a new home or older?
What are the taxes?
The hardest thing is trying to sell in a dead market, it is very discouraging. Have you thought of putting a listing up on Ebay? Buyers look there in hope of finding something in the area they are looking for. You dont have to list it as bidding just for additional information.

Good Luck

I strongly suggest you get a Realtor whose office also does property management ,
Because , in case you missed the news ,
This is Not a good time to try & sell .
You may have to rent it out to avoid foreclosure or maybe get them to take a deed in lieu , but given the market , that is unlikely .

Advice. Clean the crap out of it. Get a storage place and place most of you belongs and crap there. Make the house look like no one lives there and it should sell quickly.
