The best thing to do is to place the plant outside and let it attract it's own prey. There are six little trigger hairs on the inside of the trap. One of these has to be touched twice or two of them once each to trigger the trap. After the trap closes the ongoing struggles of the insect further stimulates these trigger hairs and causes the trap to seal itself and secrete digestive juices. Any prey larger than 1/3 the size of the trap will cause it to blacken and die. Never feed it hamburger meat.
