I think the corporations that direct the use of the US military should hire, train and finance their own mercenary forces.
This would allow the US to cut our military budget by 95%, not a bad idea at all.

What if the US got invaded and we needed troops immediately? The US Army is in charge of DOD logistics to support massive troop buildups that no other branch of the military could sustain let alone a private organization.
I have used VA medical care and it is good. Just those poor soldiers in those military hospital are having a poor time. Bad managers.
Another part of the Army is massive finance. If a massive war broke out troops wouldn't be getting paid like they would be in a private firm. Private firms ofter sell out of the US too leaving the US having to deal with security issues.

I am a big time Capitalist, but as a former military man myself, I just can visualize how this is possible. Does that mean when a country wants to go to war, the government puts out a contract to the highest bidder to fight the war? What if the "company" that fights for this country is foreign?

I can give you an even better solution. Just turn it over to the Libs for 8 years and we want have a military to worry about. All you have to do is look at what we had to build up in the military after 8 years of Clinton! Ok, hit the thumbs down!

None.
Your are thinking, grant you.
But wrong area. Join the military and you'll understand.
Where we NEED privatization is in Social Security.
Bush tried it but the Communists defeated him.
Nice try though. Bush would have saved you young pups.
The Democrats and the AARP betrayed you and screwed you.

No thank you. I want a military that is not in it for the buck and has a loyalty only to my country. Mercenaries are okay, but not one I would put all my faith and trust into. Sometimes it just ain't about the money.
