I have a 1988 Honda CRX DX with manual transmission. When the car is on, all the lights inside and outside of the car pulse. It's not so bad at idle speed but the problem gets worse as I accelerate. Is the alternator bad? What are some potential causes?

Thanks in advance! =)

i own a shop, and it could be an alternator or a bad ground wire,or even a bad connection on the battery causing this,id try cleaning all the connections and re-tightening them all up,and see if that helped it any, this may be all that's wrong with it,if that don't help it have the alternator and the battery checked to see if either of them is going bad, good luck hope this helps.

alternator is failing, the voltage output is not constant, going up and down, causing the lights to flicker. a battery with the key off, and everything else should have 12.6 volts. a charging battery should have about 13.5 minimum to 14.5 volts. just have the alternator tested out. i have a similar vehicle, they are not real hard to replace. i did mine in the parking lot of a junk yard.

Possible bad alternator, bad grounds, bad battery connections.

bad voltage regulator, or you have a real bad ground short somewhere.
