Am i white or ....?
my parents are white. but i live in south america(argentina)...does it make me latina or am i white cuz my skin is white?
i am argentinean. so, i guess the mere fact that my european ancestors chose to emigrate to south america rather than north america, makes me not white and not western. had my grandparents taken a ship to the u.s rather than to argentina, i would be white... isnt it funny? you can change colours depending on where you live.
being from argentina i would be classified in the u.s as a hispanic, not white.
i guess the fact that it is no longer a rich country and that it is located in south america makes it less european, and excluedes it from the "club" of western nations.

the question is not if you are white; but, if you would like to be considered white. in the usa where it seems to matter the most questionaires allow people to leave questions of race blank from my experience. while, i hardly see common conversations leading up to the line 'oh i'm white....' or that 'i grew up in south america, but i'm actually white....' from my experience you wouldn't want to speak to a person where the conversation initially starts with this topic or where this topic is important.

besides, the way i see it unless you are of pure saxon you are not white.

If your ancestors were pure white europeans then so are you. Latina just means your ancestors lived in Latin America. It isn't a race since Latin America has many different ethnic groups living together. The US just likes to group us all together, they fail to recognize our differences. You could also be considered hispanic if you have Spanish ancestry. So its possible for you to be called either one depending of your background.

Race can be a geographical factor ; but it is quite possible to find many other ethnic groups in an area supposedly populated by a particular group. e.g, Indians have migrated all over the world, but where-ever they go they always look like people of straight black hair and of identify-ing features. You are of the Caucasian race.
