Unless the team has reason to cancel the contract (which is very rare), yes. Kirby Puckett last played in 1995 but got paid through 1997 (while the Twins collected contract insurance). He didn't officially retire until after the contract expired in order to collect. Albert Belle and Jeff Bagwell are two recent players who had similar situations.

Yes, the contracts are guaranteed... A team can release you, but still have to pay you what you are owed...it's called being "bought out."
Now, to baseballchamp321.... Bagwell is a perfect example of this... However, I'm going to defend my Astros and say that he did everything he could to honor his contract... He wanted to earn his money (All $17 million of it... NOT $22)... His shoulder wouldn't allow it, so he was forced to "ride the pine."
The following season The Astros declined to pick up the $18 million club option for 2007, instead buying Bagwell out for $7 million. Bagwell filed for free agency in November 2006, but announced his retirement one month later. Astros owner Drayton McLane and general manager Tim Purpura announced that Bagwell would remain in the Astros organization, in the player development department, as one of the Assistants' to the General Manager.
So, yes... come injury...hell or high water... contracts are guaranteed... even Mike Hampton's, Kerry Wood's, and Mark Prior's.....
But at least Bagwell tried to earn his money... He didn't have to do that.

Baseball contracts aren't conditional on either health or making the team. The player is paid, and if the contract has been insured, the organization gets reimbursed for at least a portion of the contract by their insurance carrier.

As long as they are on the team, they get paid. Just last year, Jeff Bagwell on the Houston Astros was paid for ridin' the pine. He was paid 22 million something and he was injured with shoulder surgery.

Yes, in MLB the money is guaranteed. It isn't right in my opinion. But if the player retires because of the injury the team can get some money back through insurance.
