Are ticks getting more abundant ?

Seems like when I was a kid you had to go in the woods to get ticks. Now it seems they are everywhere ..... earlier in the spring and even around later in the winter ..... Are ticks getting worse or am I just imagining it ??

I don't know if it's true scientifically, but it sure seems that way to me too!
