am trying to burn pics from computer to disc. what kind of disc do i use?

Either one should work. Try this: from your start menu, click "my docments" and navigate to the file you want, but don't open it. Right-click on its name and select "send to" and "CD RW Drive".

Is it possible your computer doesn't have the hardware to burn discs?

you should be able to use a DVD-R or a CD-R with no problems.
Using your burning software ( NERO) select to make a data disk
DVD or CD then drop or select the images as a data file into the program and burn.

I think the blank cds would do it.
