I have this virus, AVG free tried healing it and prompted me to restart everytime it scans my com, and it is under the name of Update.exe. It placed itself in my C drive- program files-common files-{08592CEF-067E-1041-0511-060729200051} folder. i dont know when it got in...... Pls help asap, my com is lagging, i dont know why either.

try one of those free online virus scans they can also heal viruses on your machine and don't cost a thing... you may get a few buy our software e-mails but that's about it

avg free is not powerful enough to deal with trojan horses.. u have 1 option left..install another antivirus which has boot time scanning.. so tht before windows get started the scanning process is started n if the avg antivirus program u have been using ,is not corrupted yet, can do the same thing..check for the file called avgscan.exe..check the settings for boot time scanning and enable it..i dnt remember wht exactly the process is..but must be similar..but in either case u r going to lose some necessary files tht wud just worsen the case..i guess its time for
a fresh installation of windows..but may be u will do without it if ur antivirus fixes this...

Just think about this for a second...if FREE programs and store shelf protects were protecting our computers ....would we be at war with cyber crime? Each PC that is not protected is scanned atleast 17 times a day! People are fooled with these 'protections' that they are being protected...they are not! Before doing anything else, please use ur current scan machine (AVG Free) to sweep thru ur PC one more time. If prob stil persists, restart ur PC in safe mode and scan. If prob persists try next steps:

you can start in safe mode F8 during start up then after it loads 'ctrl+ alt+ del' it will show all the proccesses then see if it is there if u find it highlight it and choose delete process tree this will disable it for that session if it is still giving you a problem do a search in your computer for it make sure you have 'show all files' selected it probly is in your computers prefetch folder

AVG antivirus is totally worthless. I recommend active virus shield.

Look in task manager (Ctrl+alt+delete) under processes for any processes that you don't know (and that aren't listen as system processes).
Alternatively, you could try rebooting, and if that doesn't work, boot into safe mode (Hit F8 repeatedly while booting) and try to delete it that way. Try to boot into DOS if possible too.

i dont understandwhihc why you guys after AVG which is not so effective ...try NOD32..i have tested NOD32 and kesperkey....both are very effective ..get these softwares on torrentreactor.net
