I'm the youngest (40) of 7 children. My mom smoked during the whole pregnancy with everyone of us. We all came out fine. I don't smoke and my mom quit years ago but she is such a complainer about smoking these days. When I tell her that she did with all 7 of us, she said "well we didn't know it was bad back then" with my reply being well it couldn't have been good for you. The only thing is that today there seems to be so many more additives to the tobacco in order to get people addicted. I would try to refrain til atleast after your baby is born. Take care

Smoking while pregnant as well as smoking in front of a child is very dangerous. Your baby could be born preterm, low birth weight, could have alot of medicla problems and will probably always be running around with a runny nose and a cold. Did you know that new studies show that children born from smoking mothers are 85% more likely to have ADHD and Asthma? I would really think about my childs life before I lit up another one. With every puff you take you cut off the oxygen off from your baby. (this is really hard on a growing baby who depends on that oxygen to grow)

i smoked until i was about 4 and half months a long. i was only 18 when i got pregnant and was very stupid for smoking. i would encourage you to stop but don't let all of these people scare the crap out of you. my son came out perfect. he was 9 lbs. and in perfect health. he is in kindergarten now and is absoutely brilliant. but every case is different and there is always a possibility that your baby could have problems so don't risk it. try your best to quit now because you don't want your baby to be around that when he/she is born. i quit smoking a long time ago and i feel like such a better parent for doing so.

I smoked before I got pregnant, then I stopped because it made me sick then I started at like 6 months, till my son was born. Im ashamed and embarassed that I did. But my son is fine. I think you should stop but I agree with the other girl. Dont let these people scare you thinking its the most horrible thing you can do because its not. Youll be okay, but if you can pleasse please stop. (i only smoked like 3-5 a day too)

Smoking is bad for you and the baby. Haven't you been seeing a Doctor? Didn't he/she tell you this and the risks? This can cause a whole lot of problems for this child, who did not ask to be born. You really should have thought of that as soon as you found out you were pregnant. I think you knew the risks, you just didn't care. I hope you take better care of it AFTER it's born than you did while you were growing it in your smoke filled placenta. Truth hurts don't it?

Maybe nothing, maybe something could happen.

My mother smoked while pregnant with me, and then with my sister. I was a big baby, and my sister was 3 weeks past due and still not much over 6 pounds at birth.

You could have a perfectly healthy baby BUT smoking increases the risk of something bad happening to him or her, even death. Is that a risk you want to take?

Smoking causes the baby's heart to beat a lot faster. And, yes, the baby could be born small or prematurely and along with that can come a lifetime of illness for your child. Your child has no say in what goes into his or her body ... it's really not fair to your baby. Please be considerate of your child; the one that will look up to you and love you with all of his or her heart.

Statistically, smoking can cause low birth weight, and who knows what other problems. dont be selfish, stop until the baby is born, you did it for 3 months, you can wait a little longer.im a smoker, and so i know how it is, but you gotta think of the baby first, not yourself and your craving.
