Troy Smith or Kevin Kolb would be ideal picks in the 3rd or 4th rounds. Each have tremendous upside and could be awesome pros. For some reason I just don't see Rodgers as the next starting QB of the Pack.

Yes they should. They shouldn't waste any pick on the first day on a quarterback, but any pick rounds 5-7 is good. Favre is just too old, and for the snaps Aaron Rodgers has been taking, he hasn't been doing well and he already has had 2 injuries, 1 being very serious with that foot. Durability may be an issue.
Possibilities for them to draft in later rounds:
Tyler Palko, Pittsburgh
Jeff Rowe, Nevada
Trent Edwards, Stanford
Jordon Palmer, UTEP
Tyler Thigpen, Coastal Carolina

Any of those 5 would fit well in Green Bay

The Packers are in desperate need help at wide receiver and running back. These are the top priorities. The Packers showed so much improvement last year, and the result was very impressive. They were VERY close to going to the playoffs. However, when Ahman Green left to join the Texans, the Packers lost a huge offensive force at running back. He has really been through the wars. I would like to see the Packers make a move for Chargers running back Michael Turner this off-season. Wide receiver seems even more a needy position. Donald Driver plays with the best, and Greg Jennings will be good, but if the Packers can find a third great wide receiver, they will have depth to substitute, and they can really open things up for both the pass and the run with three wide sets. This means the starters will be fresh. Fresh wide receivers, especially, mean big plays. Add Michael Turner and the Packers are a tremendous powerhouse offense as they should be! Turner is the perfect running back for a spread offense. Offensively, with the above changes, I believe the Packers could beat the best defenses in football (Bears, Ravens, etc.)...

As for Turner's status, he was a restricted free agent. If a team were to have signed Michael Turner before the restricted free agent signing deadline of April 20, the Chargers could still have matched the contract and have retained his rights. Also, however, if the Chargers, in this case, were to have declined to offer, in this case, Michael Turner a matching contract, the signing team would have been required to compensate, in this case, the Chargers with a first and third round draft pick (2007). However, a team may trade for a restricted free agent without paying further compenstation, so the possibility remains through the trade deadline, which, last year, was October 17, for a trade for Turner such as the Texans made for Matt Schaub, who was a restricted free agent. Although Schaub was protected under the rules of restricted free agency at the time, the Falcons and Texans got around the compensation issue by forging a trade in which they could control the level of compensation. The Texans could have tried to sign him, but had the Falcons not matched, they would have been forced to relinquish the rights to their first and third round picks this year. Obviously, that price was a little high for them, so they bargained with the Falcons, and the trade was made. Turner is a can't miss player. Currently the Bills and the Titans have been working on acquiring him. Here is a good article on Turner: http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4697

I followed pretty closely the Packers last year, carrying Ahman Green and Brett Favre in some Fantasy Leagues in which I participated, and nothing came easy for them. I hoope, at least on the offensive side of the ball things are easier this year. A. J. Hawk is really going to be a great player on defense, a real anchor, but the offense is in big trouble. Maybe the Packers should focus on the remainder of the free agent signing period for obtaining the bulk of their improvements and think of the draft as an opportunity to add depth at positions (other than wide receiver where it's impossible to add a ready made wide receiver in the draft) or maybe draft some linemen. There are usually great values along the lines in the third, fourth, and fifth rounds. Also, there will be alot of quality veteran players dropped by teams between the draft and the unrestricted free agent signing deadline July 22...

As far as the draft goes, the Packers need to repeat the success of last year's first round with a player the caliber of A. J. Hawk. Hungry, refined, and determined would be the qualities for which to look-a player who can step in next year and play with the best. I suppose this is a tribute to Hawk, but I can't think of anyone of that caliber in this year's draft, at least not at pick sixteen...

I'm a Falcon fan, but the Packers impressed me last year...Good luck to the Packers!

No. They should not draft a QB, at least not on the first draft day. Last year they got a steal with Aaron Rodgers falling so late. He's been learning from Brett Favre, one of the all-time greats at the quarterback position.

After Favre, definitely Rodgers should start. This year, I think they will start off with Favre and if things go great, they'll stick with him, and if things don't go so great they'll give Rodgers the nod.

first of all championships are actually not the main barometer for a great QB. Which seems to be the main severe subject to you. If it became then why no Doug Williams or Mark Rypien? 2nd Sammy Baugh became a saftey no longer a corner lower back. Wow you somewhat be attentive to your stuff . . . no longer!!! given which you don't be attentive to he became additionally between the suited punters of all time. His gross punting checklist nonetheless stands and this is the oldest man or woman checklist interior the NFL. 0.33 you having no longer something to assert approximately Johnny Unitas . . . permit me wager you're under 30 years previous? Johnny Unitas is the suited QB of all time. finished end. Brady has no longer been enjoying long adequate to go into interior the communicate. enable us to confirm how he seems after he has performed a minimum of two or 3 greater seasons. Sorry yet you look to think of you're some form of expert yet you purely are actually not!

they drafted Aaron Rodgers s it would be stupid to do so. and he was good in college. i think the packers should get a really good wide receiver so brett favre can get another great scoring option.

I don't think so, they can do that next year, seeing as Brett Farve never gets hurt, they can fill in whatever other needs they have this year, and wait on QB until Brett retires.

I don't know, but they obviously aren't impressed with the last one they drafted to replace Farve, I think there are only 12 people outside of GB that even care.
