are they chrome or alloy?
The dealerships use a blue acid that if you breath it in you'll nearly choke to death. It doesn't hurt the wheels if it stays on less than a minute. So don't worry most anything bought in a store won't hurt them.If they are chrome you can use wheel cleaner and triple steel wool. Alloy just cleaner and a rag.

Brake dust on nice wheels has always been a pet peeve of mine. I hate to see it. I tried using chemical cleaners that you can buy in a parts store. But I quit because I just don't trust chemicals on custom wheels. You don't know if they can cause long-term damage. Now I just use a warm, wet towel and get into every crevice however I can and then dry them with a dry towel. I wish there was an easier answer, but there's not. Your wheels will thank you for your effort.

Mother's makes a spray on brake dust/wheel cleaner that works well. However, if the brake dust has been on the wheels for several years, you will likely never remove it all. Try the Mother's and a toothbrush. Good luck.

A good wheel cleaner.. And if they say NO SCRUB! it BS. to make them shine you have to get paper towels and spray then wipe the entire wheel. all the crevices and anything else.

i own a shop and there's dozens of cleaners that will work on this ,to get that stuff off ,even the dollar store has a cheap version of it,and it works really well but you don't have to buy the best for this, any good brand will work ,you can spray it on and brush it a little and then hose it off,or do like most people do spray it on let it set then spray it off,it works good either way ,good luck with it hope this helps.
