because apparently shots like that are a weak strain of what they are being immunized against, and it's a body's reaction. Our doctor friend suggested asking our pediatrician for a half-dose shot next time. The drug manufacturers push for selling a full dose, which often makes little ones react with worse symptoms. But a half-dose will protect them just as well as a full dose. Ask about or insist on a half the next time your child needs shots and see what they tell you.

Because most immunizations are made from live or attenuated strains of whatever the child is being immunized against. The introduction of the virus into the child's body elicits an immune response. So, basically, the child's immune system is working to fight off the virus and create antibodies. Fever is a sign that the child's body is responding appropriately to the vaccine. Elevated body temperature is a method used by the immune system to "kill" viral/bacterial infections since many of these "bugs" can't thrive or survive when the body temperature is higher than 98.6F.

Because they cause a reaction in the immune system, one of the things the immune system does to fight off any invader real or pretend is create a fever.

Yes. The doctor is required to provide you information on each injection with a description of symptoms to watch for. Some can be serious- locate that paper or call the doctor. Anything over 102 should be reported to them.
Tylenol is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Speak with your doctor before dosing- many children die every year of accidental overdose on tylenol and pseudoephedrine products.
