Hey nice internetizens!

I am coming to Chicago for a 48 hour film festival, and I will be driving in from downstate. I am only bringing two big bags with me, so I will be mobile on foot for buses or train access. My main question is, since I have only a little money to sustain me for the week,

Does anyone know a cheap way to park my car in the city, or a way to park outside the city, and bring my two heavy bags into the area near the Hancock building?

I'm open to walking a couple miles for the right deal, but obviously, the closer the better. And if it helps, I have a student I.D. from a community college down here in Peoria.
Thanks in advance!

okay, here's the story....get yea to Amtrak....find the closest station on Amtrak into Chicago....maybe Champaign or Bloomington if not in Pe-o-ria....catch the train...check the schedules closely because there are not a lot of trains...

Take the train into Union Station in Chi-town - it is a real safe area...be cool...that will put you at Jackson and Canal...walk E / towards the lake...ask anyone...even a Streetwise vendor....to State Street...on Jackson or Adams.

On State, look for the Red Line subway entrances....between Adams and Jackson...go down...take the red line NORTH...the trains will be labeled HOWARD....to Chicago....get off...go up to street...you will be about 2 blocks WEST of the Hancock...walk E...

AND THERE YOU ARE...enjoy the fest....

oh yeah...the train is pretty cheap...definitely less than gas $ and parking....you should be able to park in Peoria or Champaign or Bloomington near the train for dirt cheap or even free on the streets.....

Go Cubbies....

the price of private parking is pretty expensive, and public parking is VERY VERY VERY limited. public transportation might be a good idea. park in one of the suburb parking lots, and use p.t.
i dont have specifics on where to go though. sorry!
