it's not a what it's a WHO young sir. Satchmo was the Music nickname of one of the great jazz players; Louis Armstrong.
So you can visualize who it is, you can see him sing and dance a little in the musical movie "Hello Dolly" with Barbra Streisand.

Years ago we cut our honeymoon short to see the and only satchmo Louie Armstrong In concert Worth every moment.. He is missed. but his music lives on. And thats the bottom line cause grand pa says so...

The nickname originated when Louis Armstrong was a boy. He was in a "reform school" for shooting a gun (not sure if it was a real gun or not) at a New Orleans celebration. His smile was so big that on of the other boys said his mouth was as big as a satchel. The rest is history...
