If it's legal for you to have the music in your media player, than yes you can copy it.

If you downloaded the music from places like Limewire and the old free Napster, they're probably all illegal to begin with. They can still be copied, just not legally.

In reality, who is going to bust you?

1. Open Windows Media Player 10.
2. Insert your CD in your CD-ROM drive.
3. Click on the arrow on the upper right hand corner of the Windows Media Player window and select "Tools"
4. Choose "Options".
5. Click on the "Rip Music" tab.
6. On the Rip Music page, you can choose the destination folder where your music will be stored after ripping.
7. Make sure that the check box before "Copy Protect Music" does not have a check on it.
8. Click on "OK" to save configuration.
9. Click the "Rip" tab and then on the "Rip" page, click on "Rip Music".
10. Be sure to take note on where you are going to save your copied music.
11. After copying the music files, go to your folder where you saved your music files.
or you can Sync all your song on the device.

You need to get itunes (get it free here http://www.itunes.com ) and then you can drag and drop them to iTunes and connect your iPod. As long as they're unprotected files you can do it. It's illegal to convert protected files so music from Urge.com and Napster cannot be put onto iTunes unless you buy the music.

Hope that helps....

Yeah, I believe WMP reads ipod as it would any other mp3 player. if not, then download itunes, drag and drop the songs from WMP to itunes, and out em in the ipod from there.
iTunes can be found here (for free) if u dont have it...
