Modern scientific method is an extremely recent innovation in the history of our species. It has caused a series of stunning, rapid advances in our understanding of the world, our development of technology, improving the quality of our lives, medical advances...the list goes on.

Science is the best thing that ever happened to our understanding of the world. If it weren't for the development of science, we would instead be relying on superstition for all of our beliefs about the world, and superstition tends not to be very reliable for finding truth or curing disease.

Science comes naturally to man. It is his birthright. It's been in use since before the stone age. It's a downfall if its used improperly or for the destruction of others as in war.
