Wear the sweater.

If you wear the sweater you will still get bullied. If you take the sweater off then you will prove that the bullying works so you will get more of the same.

Tell them, "Then you don't know me, do you" in response to comments that try to place you into the KKK. Another good comeback could be, "Why, are you worried because you didn't see me at the last meeting."

Teenagers are very insecure, it is a complex situation when you are trying to become an adult and when you discover something that people don't want you to know about, sex. One way that insecure people help their damaged ego is to bully others. I was short and younger than most of the kids in my class so I have a very good idea of how bad bullying can be. I was never happy in school and later in life until I developed the self-confidence to no longer care what other people thought of me. I only cared about what my friends said. Everyone else was of no importance to me. Too often they would be trying to make themselves better by bringing me down. When I no longer played that game a surprising thing happened, I started to get more friends.

It is hard to do, and you worry about what other people think about you, but in the final analysis it really doesn't matter. People who know you will know that you are not in the KKK, and people that don't know you will make stupid assumptions about you. You can't be held responsible for the stupidity of other people and you don't have the time to educate all of them so the best thing to do is to ignore them.

Then think why the bullies are trying to brand you with the KKK icon. They are trying to hurt you so they are trying to make other people believe that you are something that you are not and never would be. If you didn't object to the idea of being lumped into the KKK then it wouldn't hurt you as much.

If you are still worried about people calling you a member of the KKK then write the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and ask them if you can purchase a pin that shows your support for civil rights. Then you can wear the pin. They will still try to goad you, but if any black person tries to make that claim then you can show them the pin you are wearing and say, "Only the fools who don't know me claim I am in the KKK, its a tired joke and just goes to show how stupid some people can be."

Be yourself, you are probably a very nice person. One big clue to that is that you are worried about being lumped into the KKK. The old child's rhyme, "What you say slips off me and sticks to you." Is a good one. You can always say that those who try to call you a member of the KKK are just trying to recruit you for their hate group

Most schools have an antibullying policy; if yours does, no problem, you are protected and can report the others for their unacceptable behaviors

If you want to keep wearing it, just dye it a different color.
