I think that rules make life better, but exceptions make life more interesting.

Well, they do say there's an exception to every rule. If by rules you means the conduct to which we live our lives then some rules should remain in place and never have any exceptions. Do not kill. Do not steal. Do not lie. Some may say there are exceptions to these three rules. For example it would be OK to kill someone if you were protecting yourself or someone else. This is true but I believe the rule ''Do not kill'' is meant to mean ''Do not murder.'' Self defence and the defence of another would not fall under the rule ''Do not murder''. Murder and killing are completely different with the same outcome. Exceptions here are not validated as there is a difference.
But, there are some rules which are fun to allow exceptions to. For example, Do not jump on the bed. 8~) Who here has never jumped on the bed. We all have cause it's fun, yet it's also breaking the rule. The exception to this rule is way more fun than abiding by the rule. Here's anothe rule that's fun to break. ''Do not talk with your mouth full.'' ha ha - Sometimes, especially when you're a kid, it's fun to gross people out by talking with your mouth full. As a kid I went to camp. And at camp we had a contest which everyone partisipated in. It was a cracker eating and whistling contest. Everyone had to eat 10 crackers and the first one to whistle won. In this case it was extremely fun and very hilarious to break a simple rule.
You are right by the way. Rules do make life better, safer, more enjoyable, and also very mundane at times. During the mundane times is the best time to make an exception to the rule so life can get interesting again.
