Because the US has been involved in the Philippines since the 1890's.

There is no reason that I can think of.

It was colonized by Spain, which gave it a heritage of exploitation. Then the US took over and made things even worse for the poor Filipinos.

If there's any hope for the Phillippines, I don't know where it would come from.

Aren't they already a "democracy" with a corrupt president, military and police force?

Actually, the latest president if he hasn't been assassinated was supposedly actually a "good guy."

Wow the answer before this one has a hatred for the U.S. I have friends in the Phillipines and they love America. It is too bad people hate what they don't understand.
