I'm a 63 yr old witha new toy. Prior to purchasing this pc, I have never lost my dial tone COMPLETLY in 30 yrs. I do nothing to loose it and nothing to get it back on. It's automatic. I say OH WELL. But it's getting annoying. A gal at AT&T finally agreed with me that the pc can cause this. Could it be someone, a program conflict, or my Dell? It's happened about a doz. times since last Dec. I will loose total contact to the outside world for about 4-5-6 hrs. then it comes back on all by itself. I just signed up for Kaspersky. But it was still happening before that. Thank you for your help. Lee L.

Well just a guess but you use a dial up internet service? If so and you have windows automatic updates turned on then it will connect and download the updates as well as all those dell updates so you may just need to unplug it from the phone system unless you are going online.
