I once had opportunity to question one of Clinton's architects for the military draw down. Admiral Nader said that the draw down was necessary because the economy was sluggish. I said, but if the economy is sluggish (slow) it generally means people aren't spending money. They aren't spending because they're not making, they're not making because they're not working. So, how is taking a bunch of gainfully employed people, make them unemployed and then turning them loose on an already sluggish economy supposed to help? I was promptly told to sit down.
The truth is, Bush senior planned the draw down before we got involved in Desert Shield/Storm. He was immediately voted out of office and Clinton (who had no love for the military) picked up the reignes and ran with it Trouble was, he didn't know what he was doing, and based on the premise that we would never again see a two front war, began cutting, and cutting, and cutting. He didn't know when to quit. Clinton didn't do anything original, he took up where Bush had left off, who took up where Reagan had left off. Clinton didn't know what he was doing and didn't really care, he was soley interested in to things, is popularity polls and keeping his dirty laundry under wraps. And for the record, the government ran out of money. Clinton may have bottom lined the bill, but it was the Republican controlled house that got you your "Surplus."
If you do your homework, you will quickly see that the current deficit is shrinking and will, if we continue the current course, be completely wiped out within the next ten years.

Unemployment is low because after a certain amount of time beyone when a person's unemployment benefits run out, they no longer count in the unemployment statistics because they are placed in the same exempt category as those unemployed but not looking for a job.

"People are working" -- this is redundant to your "unemployment is low" argument. yes, some are and some aren't, just like every other day in history. I know a lot of people who are making significantly less than they did when we had a good president.

How about a balanced budget? Do you realize that Clinton balanced it, and for a few years, America was in a slight -- SLIGHT surplus? Sure, it would have taken many many years to eliminate our debt, but we were running a tiny surplus. With President Dumbass, we simply fall hundreds of billions of dollars a year farther in debt. The National Debt Clock will soon be turned off because it will run out of digits and can not display the number "ten trillion". That's some mighty fine economics there, Mr. President.

Bush's half-assed attack on Afghanistan (and his inability to catch Osama bin Laden) then his 4+ years bombing a country that made no threat to us whatsoever is your definition of "doing something about terrorism"?

Do you realize that President Clinton pushed for a "Homeland Security" department when he was president, only to be laughed out of the room? He was no coward. "Our biggest ever Terrorist Attack on domestic soil was Oklahoma City, and it was done by an American!" he was told by the Republicans. They did not want to spend money "frivolously". Now, hypocritically, they take all the credit for the creation of the department. Of course, Democrats deserve a lot of blame for keeping silent while things like that happen. The last thing Clinton did when he transfered power was warn the new Administration about Osama and his tenacity to get us somehow, someway. Bush responded swiftly and strongly -- by going on vacation for 8 months (ok, he did some volunteer work, reading books at his reading level to kindergarteners) and being forced back to work by the attacks.

Now he has attacked Iraq for oil, which has nothing to do with terrorism. We are now in a war we can not get out of. But our newfound fear allows us to buy it hook, line, and sinker. 9/11 has been so good to this Administration that it makes you wonder about the wacko conspiracy theories.

Bush doesn't care about anyone but rich white people (look at his response to Katrina) and clearly doesn't have a clue (look at the seven minutes he sat motionless after finding out about 9/11), he can't address the public ("I know how hard it must be to put food on your family.") and in 2000, most people voted for the other guy and he needed a republican Supreme Court to hand him the Presidency on a silver platter.

Remind me -- which part is better than when Clinton was President?

Here's some differences. During the Clinton administration we weren't running up huge national debts, in fact, we were eliminating them, we weren't spending billions of dollars on an ill advised action in Iraq that is clearly NOT the war on terror, and, in general, we were practicing what used to be called fiscal conservatism. Yes, things are pretty good right now for a lot of people, but if you think that somehow the policies of the last seven years aren't going to come back to bite us in the ***, you're wrong.

Um, wrong on all counts except the part where Clinton was a coward. Remember the Recession, the tech bubble bursting? ring any bells? Clinton took the military to dangerously low levels.

Unless you have been in a coma, this is the best economy, but don't allow your hate for the Bush meister to get in the way of your seeing the truth.

Wow!!! Great Question.
And the economy is even much better now with the tax cuts.
We working people are doing fine.
Democrats don't work & and they hate it that we workers are gaining.
The Democrat Party is going to try to bring us down.
Pull up your socks,
And grab your kocks.
The Commie Democrats
are a-comin!
