Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Commercial and Residential Cleaning Services: A Resource Guide to Developing and Maintaining Your Own Janitorial or Home Cleaning Business by Walter Fenix
* Start and Run a Home Cleaning Business by Susan Bewsey
* Start Your Own Cleaning Service (Entrepreneur Magazine's Start Ups) by Jacquelyn Lynn
* How to Start a Home-Based Housecleaning Business, 2nd (Home-Based Business Series) by Laura Jorstad

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Think of a name for your business and go to your local city/county complex and get a license. It will probably be less than $100 dollars. It is against to law not to have a business license and there are huge fines should you get caught.

Find other people in the business in your area that can give your pointers on range of prices and the best place to buy supplies.

A great place to generate business is through your local Chamber of Commerce. Advertise to friends/ family and coworkers. Get your supplies and start.

get your cleaning supplies together, and then talk to all the people you know, and then put an advertisement in the paper, and do a good job, and tell the people you work for, that you will give them a discount the next time you clean their house if they refer you to someone and you get that job,.....be good to the people you work for,.....treat them right, and hope they will treat you right,.....
