I'm thinking about taking guitarlessons over this summer and I need alot of info. Whatever yu know about guitars could probably help because I know next to nothing about them other than that they're cool and I wantto play. For electric or regular guitar. Which one(s) needs a pick? If i take lessons with a guitar and i switch to electric would it be about the same? When I do get electric should I get an amp and how many watts and which are the best? Which guitar would be best? Please give me this info and more you can think of for a begginer if you can. Thanx!!!

Try an acoustic guitar first, that would strengthen your fingers best., don't buy a quality guitar of any kind unless you absolutely really can't live without it, get a decent inexpensive axe, have it setup for light strings and see how you progress from there. as for picks,etc... you play either with your fingers or a pick according to what works for you and or the style of music you're interested in playing. As far as the difference between an acoustic and an electric guitar, electrics are generally setup with lighter strings and lower action than an acoustic...( action would be the distance between the strings and the frets on the neck.) so an electric might be easier to play, but finger strength is pretty important so learn on a crappy acoustic until you can play. Then you can rip electric!
