Of course it is.... Or is it???
Good question... it depends on the ethics of those that provide the content.
There is an information war.. there always has been and always will be... what people looking to turn a profit are counting on is that people won't think for themselves and that they will take whatever they see at face value.
There certainly is a lack of quality programming available on most of the major channels... education has taken the backseat.
I think its funny that a stream of media is called programming... maybe it is programming... it depends on the person on the recieving end.
"if you believe you are then you are if not then you're not." this is a JOKE. When will people learn that what IS- IS whether they choose to acknowledge it or not. Ignorance is one mans bliss that causes hell to rain down upon the lives of others...
"lucifer" above is right!!! THOSE FUGGIN' COMMERCIALS!!!! they freakin drive me crazy!!! Heck they'd show a woman in her underwear to sell potting soil if they had the idea to! Ah... maybe i should sell that one to some garden centers...

Mind control as in the "I've been hypnotized to buy Nike shoes" type, I don't think so, but it is good to remember that marketers use psychological techniques to make you want something, they figure out what market they are aiming at then use all their market research to create ads that appeal directly to that demographic, so I would say the more appropriate term would be psychological marketing.
I recommend taking a simple first year psychology course to anyone, it is amazing how much people can control you when they know how a mind works, and knowing more about your own mental functions makes it harder for them to get you to believe what they want you to because you start to recognize signs of psychological manipulation.

Of course! so are words coming to you in any form. But in the end people make their own decisions to watch TV. It controls your mind by keeping you watching. For instance i noticed on Discovery channels they don't have commercials in-between programs. Thats because they know if you see a commercial before the next program your less likely to watch it, let alone find out what it's about.
