I live in San Diego, and we don't have quite as much going on in film as they do in LA. Would I be better off driving two hours to LA to audition for an agent there, or will agents in San Diego be able to book film auditions outside of the city?

L.A. is probably the answer. Getting appointments is tough. You might try sending DVDs of your best onstage or film work to a list of agents and requesting an interview. I am up in the San Francisco Bay Area and am thinking of making that same trip. I am compiling some of my best film clips to use for that purpose.

My advice to you is to stay where your at and look for agents there. Let me tell you why, I'm assuming you have no real experience in professional film acting. The reason you should find one in your own town is because that way your agent can find you jobs in L.A. for you. If you try doing it yourself it won't work out (GAS PRICES)!!!
Also create a page at actorsacess.com thousands of agents search this web site for new talent. It's absolutly free. Your information is secure and is only viewed by actuallly agents and agenices.
I'll going to L.A. in June with my management, you see I live in Midwest City, Oklahoma. There is a little film work out here but nothing that you can survive on. I have big dreams and I believe I am gifted in an incredible way. I'm like in everything at my school, acting, singing, comedian (I LOVE IMPROV), everything from spotlights to hosting I tryed them all and loved it! You just got to have the triple P's. You got to have a passion for acting, practice, and personality. It's not that people fall off and lose work its more that oppurtunity is knocking and they give up the chance. I'm about to finish after this story, okay there is an actors convention that is VERY big in L.A and New York its called the IMTA (look it up) and this beautiful girl from our management had the oppurtunity to become a model for a 2 million dollor contact, and she turned it down because she was missing her boyfriend! I mean come on, and the kicker is they ended up breaking up! So whenever you get the that chance you take it. God Bless you in your career chance. Remeber passion!

Definently where you live. L.A. isn't the only place to act. For example, di you know people film Best Buy and Subway commericals in Minneapolis? Please trust me! I know things!
