Does it look there was a piece of skin bitten off, or does this look like something on the surface of the skin (see photos in this link: http://www.fishjunkies.com/Diseases/columnaris.php ).

If the wound has a white edge around it, it could be Columnaris, or the bite may have been infected by a "fungus". Columnaris (the bacterial infection shown in the photo) looks similar to a fungus, but is usually round and sometimes is red at the center. Fungus has a more wavy edge. If it seems to be Columnaris, treat this with Furanace. If this seems more like fungus, treat with malachite green. You can get both medications at larger pet stores.

Just to be safe, you might want to separate your fish for a while, at least while your gourami is healing. If your puffer is being a nipper (and most of them are) they might need to be separated permanently. Puffers are territorial, and if there isn't enough bottom area in your tank, he may bite anyone who comes into "his" space.

If the fish seems mis-shapen or something like that, this is going to quite die from severe inner injuries and euthanasia is the only answer. on the different hand, no remember if it somewhat is only cuts to the whiskers, i choose not hardship. they might not strengthen back precise however the fish's life isn't in possibility from broken barbels. save an eye fixed on the barbels to make confident not something like an infection gadgets in - the fish becomming sluggish and nevertheless is additionally a demonstration of this. There are not any 'healing potions' for fish. A vet can administer antibiotics to the water in the form of / as a precaution against an infection - you will choose a quarantine tank for this. otherwise, a dose of salt reminiscent of somewhat brackish water circumstances halts many freshwater fish pathogens and would additionally be utilized in a community tank. After including the salt (get the dose excellent), watch the fish for peculiar habit at the same time with swimming on the side - this is a demonstration you used too a lot salt! otherwise, freshwater fish, even ones that come from exceedingly much organic rainwater rivers, are somewhat tolerant of salt customarily.

it could be an infected wound, a bacterial or fungal infection or parasites.... I cant tell withut a picture.

you need to treat the tank immediately. Id start with a bacterial remedy, then try fungal or parasite if it doesnt work.

you can get bacterial medication for your tank from your local petshop - use it according to the directions.
