(im not america for the record) everyone must learn to understand each other, including cultural customs. yes it was VERY disrespectful for a puplic display of affection particualy since they were unmarried. but in shiplas defense he kissed her! and he did not release the disrespect if causes. and altho i think he needs to have a good hard think about what is acceptable where, burning epiges of both him and shipla is disrepectful back at them and insults the american culture.

what i am trying to say is yes he did wrong but you cant say its because hes evil or sick, its just their way, they will sometimes thing yours or my customers of odd/werid/sick. but what we need to do is be understanding to others cultures even if they forget to be understanding of ours. otherwise people will never get along.

we are all one family. americans (or any other nation really) are like our brother. sure maybe they piss us off sometimes but at the end of the day they are family and we should love them.

I'm not sure about this one. We know that there are traditions and ways of doing things in other countries. The fact that it seemed to be a total surprise to Shilpa may have made it seem as if she enjoyed it or allowed it or whatever but what if she just didn't know what to do? As a woman who has had my *** grabbed several times throughout my life, the first time or two is such a shock you don't react. The third time, you turn around and bash the guys teeth through his lips. (Keep this in mind guys, you never know if it's our first time or our third!) So anyway, Shilpa could actually file a law suit against Gere and maybe even win. India is not America. Also, who's to say India's beliefs are outdated. That's like saying Christianity is outdated. Outdated for you maybe but not them. So, I guess we'll see what happens. I hope Shilpa takes it with a grain of salt and I hope India will get over it soon.

If anyone has seen Indian movies recently, they would agree that Indian actresses now wear less clothing than many American actresses do. Indian movies have become extremely sexual and usually include at least one kiss. Hundreds of men and women pile into Indian theaters every month so it's insane for them to consider the innocent kiss between Gere and Shetty taboo. It's what they themselves are promoting. What hypocrite's!

It seems so to us. Their culture forbids that kind of thing. Richard Gere spends a lot of time in India. He really should know better.

I think you guys totally missed the point. Did you see her body language? She kept trying to pull her hand away from him. She didnt want to kiss the old guy!
If it was a peck on the cheek, there probably wouldn't be such a hoopla. But he practically had her in a headlock!
Please, just because he's an american movie star, doesn't mean she actually liked the kiss or found him attractive in anyway. She was grossed out!!!
