Something besides bowling or skating...costs has to be under $20. Any cool fun restaurants or activities. This is for Friday's after 7:00 p.m. In Austin, Round Rock, Pfulgerville or surrounding areas.

Are there any local public gyms around? I was thinking of "team sports" like basketball or volleyball.

Any outdoor parks where the kids can Rollerblade or skate?

You may be able to rent some DVDs and have a movie night. How many kids are involved? If not too many, perhaps at a home of one of the parents.

If it's a lot of kids, then, perhaps a room in a community center. Get popcorn and sodas for the kids. Watch a few of the movies. If they are "good" movies - perhaps have a discussion afterward. I am thinking of movies other than action, etc.

As the weather gets warmer, perhaps the kids themselves can come up with some ideas. I was thinking of ways they can "help" younger kids- some type of activities that would involve younger children. Maybe some type of group games that don't involve "winning." Something that would involve team work to get the 'task' done!

my son's youth group (similar ages as yours) often does a theme night. The kids come dressed the part and they have triva games and activitites.

They did a 80's night, they have done pirate night, they have done a sort of fear factor type thing. There are lots of things you can do that are minimal cost -- just takes lots of imagination
THey have all you can eat Macaroni and Cheese night -- and hot dog cookouts etc

Ask the kids for input -- they come up with amazing ideas!

My son's group rarely goes "out" -- they always have fun -- but do it at the church and cooperatively.

Check out about.com's link -- they often have good ideas

A scavenger hunt might be a fun thing to do. There are a lot of free sites that you can download instructions from. I also found a site that might interest your group.

Maybe you could play volleyball at a gym. Sorry that's all I can think of.
